Sculpture Evergreen Sculpture Walk 2017-18

Sculpture Evergreen has established a program of art acquisition to beautify public buildings and open spaces in Evergreen and Kittredge, located in the foothills west of Denver. The annual Sculpture Walk is a juried exhibition of up to 16 large sculptures suitable for outdoor display. Accepted sculptures will be on display for one year, with two to three pieces held over for a second year (with the artist's permission). A stipend of $700 will be awarded for each accepted sculpture, with a Juried Award of $1,000 and awards for 1st and 2nd place and People's Choice. Sculptures may be purchased outright by area art patrons; Sculpture Evergreen receives a 25% commission on any sales during the exhibition period. Since inception, 33 pieces have been purchased for the permanent collection, with many more purchased by individuals.

Sculptures must be suitable for outdoor display, soundly and professionally constructed of durable materials that can withstand wind gusts up to 100 mph, and equipped with a steel mounting plate for welding to a pedestal, an alternative attachment method, or sufficient weight and durability for secure ground placement. Free-standing sculptures must be at least 42" tall; pieces between 4-12 feet in height have the best chance of selection, though smaller pieces are considered for specific sites.

Entries must be submitted by February 1, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The $30 entry fee includes submission of up to 3 pieces (9 photos total). For each sculpture, provide 3 photos: frontal, rear, and one detailed image. All works must be original and identical to submitted images. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 28, 2017. Accepted sculptures must arrive in Evergreen on Friday, June 2, 2017, with installation on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Artists must be present for installation and the Artist Reception on Friday evening.
