About This Call
The National Sculpture Society invites sculptors ages 21-35 (born 1980-1994) to apply to one or both parts of this opportunity. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or residents with a social security number.
Part One: Head Start Modeling Competition. Sculptors will model a bust from life in front of an audience at the Sculpture Celebration Conference on June 26, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA (3 hours). Up to 10 sculptors will be selected by a jury of three prominent sculptors. Awards include: Roger T. Williams Prize ($1,500), Walter & Michael Lantz Prize ($750), and Edward Fenno Hoffman Prize ($350). Winners will be announced June 27th at NSS' Honors and Awards Dinner. Modeling clay, stands, and armature materials are supplied; competitors must provide personal sculpture tools and spray bottle. Competitors are responsible for their own meals, travel, and daily expenses.
Part Two: Participation Scholarships. Up to 10 recipients will be selected to attend the Sculpture Celebration Conference (June 26-28, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA). Scholarships include a two-night hotel stay (for those living outside Philadelphia), $150 stipend, and conference registration ($325 value). Recipients are responsible for their own meals, travel, and daily expenses. Scholarships are funded by bequests from the estates of Charlotte Geffken and Roger T. Williams.
For both parts, submit 6-10 images of at least 5 different sculptures and a biography/resume (limit 3,000 characters with spaces). Work inspired by nature, figurative, or realist sculpture is preferred. There is no submission fee. Submit through CaFE at www.callforentry.org. Contact: 212-764-5645 ext 10 or [email protected].
