About This Call
Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the Sculpture at the Kavanagh exhibit to be held at the Kavanagh Gallery of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois, from July 23 - August 19, 2026. The show is open to any 3-D work in any sculpture or craft medium. No paintings, photographs, or other 2-D work will be accepted. The Fine Line Creative Arts Center is located in the Fox River Valley, approximately one hour west of Chicago, Illinois.
Eligibility is regional, open to artists 18 years or older who reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. Work must not have been previously shown at Fine Line. Each applicant may submit up to 3 pieces per entry. Artists may submit one entry. A non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 is required at the time of application. All pieces must be for sale. Each artist must supply an artist statement of no more than 1000 characters (artist name should not be included). Images submitted must be of the actual work to be exhibited.
Jury decisions are based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality. Notification of jury decisions will be sent via email on or before June 20, 2026. Accepted artists will receive a contract, complete shipping information, and other forms by email. The artist is responsible for shipping artwork to and from Fine Line Creative Arts Center and for insuring items during shipping. Work must be packed for shipping at no more than 48 inches x 32 inches x 72 inches and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Delivery and check-in is July 18, 2026 (10 am – 5 pm by hand). The opening reception is July 23, 2026 (6-8 pm). The gallery is open to the public Monday-Saturday 10 am - 5 pm during the exhibition. Pick-up is August 22, 2026 (10 am – 5 pm). Unsold work shipped to Fine Line will be returned to the artist between August 20 and August 25, 2026. Exhibited work cannot be removed from the gallery until August 22, 2026.
The Kavanagh Gallery has grey pedestals for use during gallery shows. Smaller items will be displayed in locked cabinets. If artwork requires unusual display protocol, the artist is responsible for providing these items. Due to the gallery's ceiling structure, artwork cannot be hung from the ceiling. The gallery uses the Walker Display system for artwork hung on walls and cannot affix artwork with nails or screws. Hanging work should have wire and screw eyes; no saw-tooth hangers or clip frames are permitted. Fine Line provides security with 24/7 video monitoring and insurance from receipt of work until the end of the show (insurance value is 70% of sale price). The show will charge a 30% sales commission for any artwork sold. Fine Line handles all sales, sales tax, and provides artists with a check for all sales after the show ends. Artists need not be present during the show. Fine Line is responsible for show installation, opening reception, and sales. Awards totaling $800.00 will be given.
