Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art

The Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art is a national competition accepting representational artwork in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, and drawing media. A $50 entry fee covers up to 3 unique submissions, with a maximum of 2 pieces accepted per artist. Only original work that has not been previously exhibited or available for purchase at a gallery or museum show is eligible. Photography and computer-generated artwork are not eligible.

Artwork must be framed and wired for hanging (gallery wrap acceptable if the painting extends and covers all four sides; no metal frames). Image dimensions must be between 320 and 1,200 square inches. All accepted work must be available for sale. The jury will select the top 100 paintings through a two-step process: first judging from photographs by Legacy Gallery, then in-person review of selected entries. If work does not meet the prospectus requirements or quality standards shown in the photograph, the jury may refuse entry.

Awards include: Best of Show ($8,000), Runner-up ($4,000), Art of the West Merit Award ($1,000), American Art Collector Merit Award ($1,000), International Artist Merit Award ($1,000), Southwest Art Magazine Merit Award ($1,000), and Western Art Collector Merit Award ($1,000). The exhibition runs November 7 – December 31, 2013, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on November 7 from 6–8 PM. Acceptance notification will be sent by September 17, 2013. Sales proceeds are split 60% to the artist and 40% to the Salon. Local artists may deliver uncrated pieces between October 14–25, 2013. Out-of-town artists must ship to Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art, 7178 E. Main Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, arriving between October 14–25, 2013. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs both ways.
