Scottsdale Public Art Temporary Projects FY15

Scottsdale Public Art (SPA) seeks artists interested in creating temporary installations, performance-based and participatory artworks in a variety of locations during the fiscal year July 2014 through June 2015. Selected artists will be placed on a pre-qualified list to be potentially commissioned by SPA for temporary project opportunities throughout FY15. SPA anticipates 10-20 temporary project opportunities during FY15. The majority of these projects are planned for the annual Canal Convergence event in February 2015 with an additional large scale opportunity at the Scottsdale Arts Festival in March 2015.

Canal Convergence events take place annually at the Scottsdale Waterfront and feature innovative large scale installations by local, national and international artists, hands-on activities, live music, performances, and an Artisan Market. The events focus on the canal's architectural form, its function as a power and water utility corridor, and its history as a lifeline for humans in the Sonoran desert. The Scottsdale Arts Festival is an award-winning event that attracts more than 40,000 attendees and features a juried fine art and craft showcase, performances, educational family art activities, and an online art auction.

All local, national, and international artists including individuals, collectives, groups, and teams are eligible to apply. Budget ranges from $5,000-30,000. Selected pre-qualified artists will be contacted as needed on an individual basis 3-6 months prior to project opportunities. Notification of selection results will be provided via email by June 20, 2014. Submit 5 images with your application. Deadline: June 2, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
