About This Call
Placer Community Foundation (PCF) manages the Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART Program) in partnership with Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA. The program brings established artists to Placer County to teach and share their artistic talents and experience with the greater community. The program was established in memory of local artist Susan Cooley Gilliom by her family.
The selected artist will participate in a residency from April 10 - May 1, 2026, and is required to lead the following activities: an artist lecture presentation (1 hour) on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM during a 3rd Saturday Reception at Blue Line Arts; open studio hours for up to two hours per day during gallery hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 11 AM-5 PM); at least 1-2 school tours with local students on-site at Blue Line Arts; and up to 2 workshops for adults (18+ years old). Workshop dates, times, and topics will be confirmed with the selected artist. Previous recipients have taught 2-3 day workshops covering topics such as professional development for artists, art techniques and processes in painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, fiber arts, and other visual art mediums.
Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years or older in Placer County and surrounding areas including Nevada County, Yuba County, El Dorado County, Sacramento County, and Sutter County. Artists must not have been previously selected for an SCG Residency at Blue Line Arts. All forms of art making and mediums will be considered. Application deadline: October 5, 2025 at 5:00 PM PST.
