About This Call

Placer Community Foundation (PCF) manages the Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART), housed through Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA. The program brings established artists to Placer County to teach and share their artistic talents and experience with the greater community. The program was established in memory of local artist Susan Cooley Gilliom by her family.

The selected artist will lead activities during the residency from April 11 to May 2, 2025, including: an artist lecture presentation on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 4:00-5:00pm; open studio hours for up to two hours per day during gallery hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm); 1-2 school visits by local students; and 2 workshops for adults (18+ years old). Dates and times will be confirmed with the selected artist. Workshop topics can include professional development for artists, art techniques and processes in various visual art mediums such as painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, and fiber arts.

Applicants must submit: a cover letter (1-2 pages) addressing the selection committee; workshop proposals (2 pages maximum, 1 page per workshop) describing program overview, skill level, teaching objectives, and materials needed; curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum); artist statement (1 page maximum); 5-10 high quality images of completed works; 1-2 artist headshots; and 1-2 photos of the artist at work. Eligibility is open to artists 18 years or older in Placer County and surrounding areas including Nevada County, Yolo County, El Dorado County, Sacramento County, and Sutter-Yuba County. Artists must not have been previously selected for an SCG Residency at Blue Line Arts. All forms of art making and mediums will be considered. Application deadline: November 30, 2024 at 5:00pm PST. Notification results will be sent by December 31, 2024 at 5:00pm PST. Contact Blue Line Arts at (916) 783-4117 or [email protected] for questions.
