About This Call

Placer Community Foundation (PCF) manages the Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART Program) in partnership with Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA. The program brings established artists to Placer County to teach and share their artistic talents and experience with the greater community. The program was established in memory of Susan Cooley Gilliom by her family, who valued the perspective and expertise offered by workshops from established artists.

The selected artist will participate in a residency from September 5-26, 2025, and is required to lead the following activities: an artist lecture presentation on Saturday, September 20th from 4-5pm during a 3rd Saturday Reception at Blue Line Arts; open studio hours (up to two hours per day, twice per week during gallery hours Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm); at least 1-2 school tours with local students on-site at Blue Line Arts; and 2 workshops for adults (18+ years old). Workshop dates, times, and topics will be confirmed with the selected artist. Previous recipients have taught 2-3 day workshops covering topics such as professional development for artists, art techniques and processes in visual art mediums including painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, and fiber arts.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm PST on February 7th, 2025. Applicants must submit a cover letter (1-2 pages), workshop proposals (2 pages maximum), curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum), artist statement (1 page maximum), 5-10 high quality images of completed works, 1-2 artist headshots, and 1-2 photos of the artist at work. Eligible applicants are artists 18 years or older from the United States who have not previously been selected for an SCG Residency at Blue Line Arts. All forms of visual art making and mediums will be considered. Results will be sent by 5pm PST on February 28th, 2025. For questions, contact Blue Line Arts at (916) 783-4117 or [email protected].
