About This Call

Superstition XIII is a juried exhibition inviting artists to investigate superstition and the esoteric through book arts. The show explores the inky arts of the book, bringing to light the dark arts near and dear to printers, binders, and book artists. Artists are encouraged to submit book works which speak to the mysterious, the alchemical, and the arcane—both written and unwritten. The exhibition will run from September 13, 2014 through October 31, 2014 at the SF Center for the Book, giving viewers a glimpse into individual artistic interpretations of superstitions. Esoterica and ephemera will be on display alongside contemporary artists' books. A four-color exhibition catalog will be available for purchase.

Jurors will choose one Best of Show and 3 honorable mentions. Award recipients will be notified after the exhibition open date. Artwork delivery is August 15-31, and pickup is November 4-8. Artwork will be shipped November 15.

Submission Requirements: Submit 1-3 images of book works. Entry fee is $35.00. Free public programs include opening receptions, poetry readings, book release parties, gallery talks, and Open Houses.
