About This Call
The San Francisco Arts Commission is seeking original 2-dimensional artwork by Bay Area artists for the new Laguna Honda Hospital resident buildings. The hospital provides care, housing, and support services for approximately 800 residents with diverse medical, nursing, physical, social, and cultural needs, including individuals requiring long-term care, rehabilitation services, and hospice care.
The Arts Commission will purchase between 25-30 original artworks for display in public areas of the hospital resident floors, with purchase prices up to $10,000 (most under $2,500). Artists must also agree to grant the Arts Commission a license to produce a limited edition of 30-40 inexpensive ink-jet prints for patient rooms for an additional $1,000 licensing fee. The Commission will also consider purchasing existing print editions for patient rooms at prices under $250.
Eligible artists must be from the 9 Bay Area Counties, with preference given to San Francisco residents. Artwork must be original 2-dimensional work in any permanent material with significant artistic merit. Imagery should be suited for a healthcare facility, such as positive, reality-based landscapes, figuration, still life, or serene abstract work. Submissions must include 10 images of available work with size, media, and purchase price information, plus an artist's resume. Short list selection will occur by May 30, 2010, with final selection by July 30, 2010. Contact Zoe Taleporos at (415) 252-3215 or [email protected] for further information.
