About This Call
San Diego Legends 2018 is an exhibition celebrating the region's beauty and history through visual arts. The exhibition runs April 6-29, 2018, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 7 from 6-9 PM. The juror is Chrisanne Moats, Executive Director of Escondido Arts Partnership.
Artists are encouraged to submit diverse works featuring Greater San Diego, including scenery, people, history, politics, tourism/special events, or street art. Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist books, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, and sculpture. Oversized jewelry defined as fine art is acceptable. The exhibition does not accept small jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation, or works requiring external electrical sources. All submissions must be original work.
Entry fee is $25 for one work, $30 for two works, or $35 for three works. Artists must submit 1-3 images online through CAFÉ before March 20, 2018 at 10:59 PM PST. This is a regional show intended for San Diego artists with hand delivery required. 2-D work maximum size is 8 feet height by 4 feet width including frame. 3-D work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height. 2-D artwork must arrive gallery-ready and professionally presented, preferably in black or natural wood frames with no color mats, and using plexi only (no glass).
Artwork delivery dates are Sunday, April 1 (Noon-4 PM) or Tuesday, April 3 (10 AM-6 PM). Artists will be notified of selection by March 27, 2018. A Juror's Award certificate will be presented to three works with the most imaginative interpretation of the theme, with one designated "Best in Show" for the exhibition catalog cover. All selected artwork will be included in the exhibition catalog. For sales, artists receive 60% and The Studio Door receives 40%. Sold items must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. Artwork pickup is April 28 (4-5 PM) or May 1 (10 AM-6 PM). Contact [email protected] with questions.
