About This Call
The San Anselmo Arts Commission is seeking a professional artist to paint a mural on the East side wall of the building located at 1608 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo. The one-story wall is a combination of stucco and concrete block, highly visible traveling West along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, a busy arterial road in Marin County. The project aims to enliven and beautify this location, enhance the character and identity of San Anselmo, and create a welcoming visual experience in the neighborhood.
The project is open to professional artists (18 and over) who have completed at least three murals. Applicants must be a resident of California, with preference given to artists located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lead artists working with youth groups are encouraged to apply. Qualified artists must have experience and capability to conceptualize, design, and install their artwork in a professional manner.
Applicants must submit: resume and/or website link, artist statement, at least 3 visual samples of past public art works, contact information for 2 references (preferably from previous public art works), a color design illustrating the concept, a written statement describing the concept and design parameters including process, time frame, surface preparation, and paint medium specifications, and a budget plan with a maximum bid of $16,000 itemizing artist fee, supplies, travel, and other costs.
