About This Call

St. John's Hospital Foundation seeks approximately 5 custom site-specific artworks for the Sage Living neighborhood, a new 72-bed senior living facility in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The facility includes two 20-bed long-term care neighborhoods, a memory support neighborhood, a 16-bed transitional care unit, and companion suites. Artworks will be displayed in neighborhood entrances and Heritage Hall (reception area and fireplace).

The artworks will be thoughtfully selected to provide benefits to residents with a variety of cognitive abilities, contributing to a stimulating atmosphere that supports creative engagement. Artwork will support wayfinding, contribute to the identity of each wing, and provide residents with a sense of belonging and familiarity. Artwork in reception areas will announce key entrances, while tactile artworks will support sensory stimulation and prints will add vibrancy to high-use areas. The art committee is primarily interested in recognizable subject matter that is easy to comprehend.

Artworks will be grouped thematically by neighborhood: Paintbrush Place (Skilled Nursing West) should relate to Indian Paintbrush or wildflowers; Wildflower Way (Memory Care Unit) should enrich daily lives through wayfinding and character; the Transitional Care Unit theme is "Motivate & Inspire" with themes of rejuvenation, play, outdoor activities, and wellness; Heritage Hall should feature iconic images highlighting Jackson Hole's unique environment, history, and culture. The project budget for each site-specific work is approximately $14,500. Finalists will receive a $500 concept development stipend to design a site-specific proposal for review by the art committee. The call is open to the first 250 applicants and closes January 24, 2020. Artist selection will take place February–March 2020, with design and development March–August 2020, fabrication September 2020–May 2021, and installation summer/fall 2021. Contact: Carrie Geraci, Public Art Coordinator, 307-413-1474, [email protected].
