About This Call
Members of the Surface Design Association (SDA) are invited to submit work for Safekeeping: Surface Design Association Juried Member Exhibition. The exhibition will be on view from June 2 - July 23, 2023 at 108 Contemporary in Tulsa, OK. The juror is Anita Fields. Entries may be submitted online through April 1, 2023 via CaFE. Entry fee for SDA members is $45.00.
This exhibition explores themes of safekeeping, sanctuary, and stewardship. The exhibition celebrates works that push the evolution of textiles through the use of color, design, processes, and meanings. Works chosen will demonstrate unique, well-developed artistic vision and innovation. All SDA members working in all media are encouraged to apply. Up to two artworks total may be submitted (2D or 3D). Entries must be original work completed after January 1, 2021 and must be available for sale. Video work is not eligible.
Work sample requirements: up to 4 images, up to 4 audio files, up to 4 video files, with a minimum of 2 total samples and maximum of 4 total samples. Images must be JPEG format, no smaller than 1200 pixels on the shortest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and 5 MB maximum file size. Submissions must include an artist statement (1,000 characters maximum) and description field for each artwork. Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($150), and SDA Award of Excellence (one-year SDA membership). Notification of acceptance is April 24, 2023. Selected artwork must arrive at the venue between May 24-25, 2023. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from 108 Contemporary. Insurance is provided by the gallery while work is in its care and in transit. A 40% gallery commission will be charged for sold work.
