Rutgers University Camden Artis Building Art Purchase

The Artis Building Renovation Project at Rutgers University—Camden seeks completed two-dimensional artwork to purchase for display in the renovated historic building on Cooper Street in Camden. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts and Rutgers University Camden encourage New Jersey resident artists to submit 4-6 images of completed, two-dimensional works for consideration by the arts inclusion committee. Purchased works will be installed in a public area of the building which will house classrooms and faculty, student and administrative offices.

Media must be two-dimensional (painting, photography, collage), framed, wired and gallery ready. No representations of human figures or faces are permitted. Maximum framed dimensions sought are 4' 5" width x 3' height, 5' width x 3' height, or 8' width x 3' height. Final purchased pieces must be appropriately framed, behind glass or Plexiglas for paper-based media, wired and ready to install. Artists may submit 4-6 images of completed art ready for purchase.

The project seeks to acquire 1-3 pieces pending budget allocation. Total amount budgeted for the entire purchase is $5,000. Special consideration will be given to Camden and Southern New Jersey resident artists. Shortlisted artists may be asked to bring their work(s) on-site for in-person viewing in the early fall.
