About This Call
This is a public art opportunity for the Pecos Junction Station on the RTD Gold Rail Line in Denver, Colorado. The station is located east of Pecos Street on the south side of the existing freight tracks, approximately 10 minutes north of Denver Union Station. The station will have 300 parking spaces on opening day.
Potential artwork locations include the pedestrian bridge (ceiling or top surface) and the ramp access on the parking side leading to the pedestrian bridge. Artwork must be durable and able to withstand Colorado's weather conditions, including wide temperature fluctuations and intense sunlight. Materials must require little or no maintenance. Artwork must not violate clearance and safety regulations concerning overhead electrical wires or impede train operations. Prior approval is required for any use of electricity. The movement, safety, and security of pedestrians is a priority.
Applications must include eight digital images of relevant work with accompanying annotations listing media, size, title, date, and brief description; a current resume; and two professional references. The selection process has two phases: the Eagle Project Art Committee (composed of artists, arts professionals, and community members) will select finalists based on application materials. Finalists will make a site visit, prepare a proposal, and be interviewed by the committee. The final artist will be notified of selection by March 30, 2015, with artwork installation scheduled for summer 2016.
