About This Call
This is a public art opportunity for the Arvada Ridge Station on the RTD Gold Rail Line, the sixth stop heading northwest from Denver Union Station. The station is located west of Kipling Street on the north side of existing freight tracks, with a travel time of 23 minutes from Denver Union Station.
Potential art locations include an underpass, a long wall, or an open area for a 3D piece. Electricity is available in the underpass. Artwork must be durable and able to withstand Colorado's constantly changing weather conditions, including wide temperature fluctuations and intense sunlight. Materials must require little or no maintenance. Artwork proposed near the tracks must not violate clearance and safety regulations concerning overhead electrical wires or impede train operations. The movement, safety, and security of pedestrians is a priority.
Applications must include eight digital images of relevant work with accompanying annotations listing media, size, title, date, and brief description; a current resume; and two professional references. The selection process has two phases. All artists can apply by the January 23, 2015 deadline. Finalists will be selected by the Eagle Project Art Committee based on application materials, will make a site visit and prepare a proposal, and will be interviewed by the committee. Finalist artists will be notified February 9, 2015. Committee interviews and proposal reviews are scheduled for March 26-27, 2015. The final artist will be notified March 30, 2015. Artwork installation is planned for summer 2016.
