About This Call
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) of Denver, Colorado is seeking commissioned artwork for the RidgeGate Station on the FasTracks Southeast (EFR) rail line extension project. The commission amount is $150,000. RidgeGate is the end-of-line station on the Southeast rail line extension project to Lone Tree, located at RidgeGate Parkway with a 1,300-slot Park-n-Ride facility.
The preferred location for artwork is in the plaza and/or on the parking garage. Artwork must be durable and able to withstand Colorado's constantly changing weather conditions, including wide temperature fluctuations and intense sunlight. Materials must require little or no maintenance. Artwork must not violate clearance and safety regulations concerning overhead electrical wires or impede train operations. Prior approval is required for use of electricity.
Applications must include six digital images of relevant work with accompanying annotations (media, size, title, date, and brief description), a current resume, and two professional references. An optional description of initial ideas for the artwork at this location may be included. All materials must be submitted in digital format via the CAFÉ website. There is no application fee. The selection process has three phases: Phase one involves finalists selected by the Southeast rail extension project art committee based on application materials; Phase two requires site visits and proposal preparation; Phase three includes committee interviews on December 7, 2017. The final artist will be notified of selection on December 11, 2017, with artwork installation scheduled for Fall/Winter 2018. For questions or site plans, contact Christina Zazueta at [email protected].
