Rowan University Bank Building Addition Art Inclusion - Camden 2017

This public art opportunity is open to artists in the Delaware Valley region for art inclusion at the Rowan University Bank Building Addition in Camden, part of the State of New Jersey Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act. The First Camden National Bank & Trust building is located at 606 Cooper Street. Art installations are proposed for the eastern facing side of the building as indicated on the host website.

Proposed artwork should be dimensional in form and not be constructed of materials applied directly to the surface of the building. Artwork can be of any material but will be applied to the exterior wall by adhesives or other material that will not compromise the structural integrity of the building or cladding. Bolts or standout hardware cannot be used. The artwork should reflect and respond to Rowan University's relationship with the Camden community, demonstrating sensitivity and respect for the historical and cultural past of the city while looking forward to its future. The artwork should complement the neoclassical style of the building while considering the University's academic presence and how it resonates with Camden's cultural narrative.

Shortlisted artists will be required to meet with members of the Rowan community prior to presenting their concept to gain insight and inform their proposal. The project budget is $140,000. Applicants must submit 4-6 images. Entry deadline: June 1, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Contact: [email protected]
