About This Call
The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department Public Art Program seeks to commission a professional artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install site-specific artwork at the Roundabout Project in the Eastside Regional Park Phase II. Materials must be appropriate for a high-use environment, weather resistant and low maintenance.
The Roundabout Project is part of the second phase of the Eastside Regional Park, a 92-acre complex located at 13501 Jason Crandall Dr. in Far East El Paso. The project will have a "Hueco Tanks" theme, giving guests the feeling of having a great, big backyard on the edge of a desert oasis. The total project budget is $95,000 to include design, fabrication, and installation. This budget is all-inclusive and must cover design fees, travel expenses, all materials and fabrication costs, insurance costs, engineering expenses, shipping and transportation to the site, and installation costs.
Artists must submit applications through the CAFÉ Website including an artist statement, previous work examples, resume and letter of interest. Work sample requirements include a minimum of 1 and maximum of 6 total samples (images, audio, or video). Applications will be reviewed by an Artist Selection Panel. The selected artist will collaborate with the City and stakeholders to generate artwork proposals, conduct site research, prepare presentations, and complete construction documents. The anticipated schedule includes Artist Selection Panel Review on March 6, Public Art Committee Review on March 12, and notification to the selected artist on March 13.
