About This Call
The Rosemary Beach Sculpture Exhibition 2021-22 invites experienced sculptors to submit work for this juried exhibition. The theme is "Caring About Tomorrow: Exploring Environmental Interdependence Through Public Art." Artists working in the design, construction, and installation of outdoor sculpture are encouraged to submit entries that reflect on environmental interdependence and how actions taken today can ensure a healthier population and planet for tomorrow. The exhibition opens Labor Day weekend, September 4, 2021, and closes September 5, 2022.
Between 10-14 sculptures will be selected for the exhibition. All selected artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium upon delivery and mounting of their sculpture. First Place and Second Place winners will receive additional awards of $2,000 and $1,000 respectively. Artists must have documented experience with the design and construction of outdoor sculpture. Sculptures must be original, complete works that pose no risk of injury to the public, can be semi-permanently fixed to a heavy base, require no maintenance during the exhibition, and can withstand all weather conditions, high temperatures, direct sunlight, humidity, and salt. Works will be viewed in-the-round and may be touched or climbed on by the public, so they must be safe, stable, and durable.
Application deadline is May 15, 2021. Finalists will be notified on or by June 15, 2021. Artists must deliver their sculpture to Rosemary Beach and assist in mounting between August 16 and September 1, 2021. Sculptures may be shipped at the artist's expense in exceptional circumstances. A $8.00 application fee is required per sculpture. Submit applications via CaFÉ at CallForEntry.org with CV, artist statement relating the work to environmental interdependence, title, medium, dimensions, year, low-resolution images of the sculpture from multiple angles, low-resolution images of previous relevant projects, material specifications with explanation of weather resistance, and contact details. Each application should contain one sculpture only; multiple images of the same sculpture are permitted up to 4. A consignment contract will be drafted for selected sculptors, specifying consignment dates, value, authentication, photography/reproduction policies, and insurance terms. A 30% commission will be deducted from sculpture sales. At the end of the exhibition, sculptors must remove their work no later than September 20, 2022.
