About This Call
Artists working in the design, construction and installation of outdoor sculpture are invited to submit an application for the second biennial Rosemary Beach Sculpture Exhibition, opening Memorial Day weekend 2019 and continuing through February 14, 2020.
Up to 20 sculptures will be selected for this juried exhibition. All selected artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium upon delivery and installation of their work. First Place and Second Place winning sculptures will be awarded $2,000 and $1,000 respectively. Artists must have documented experience with the design and construction of outdoor sculpture. Sculptures must be original works created by the artist and must adhere to specific design parameters: pose no risk of injury to the public, be semi-permanently fixed to a heavy base, require no maintenance during the exhibition, withstand all weather conditions including high temperatures, direct sunlight, humidity and salt exposure, be guaranteed against defects and deterioration, and be safe and stable for public interaction. Environmental works and site-specific land art that reconnects the urban environment with nature will be considered.
Application deadline is January 15, 2019. A $5 fee is charged per application. Submit materials online via CallForEntry.org, including artist CV, artist statement, title/medium/dimensions/year of work, up to 4 low-resolution images of the sculpture, specifications of all materials with explanation of environmental durability, and contact details. Finalists will be notified by March 1, 2019. Selected artists must deliver their sculpture and assist in mounting between May 13-23, 2019 (sculptures may be shipped at artist's expense in exceptional circumstances). The exhibition runs from May 24, 2019 through February 14, 2020. A consignment contract will be drafted for each selected sculptor, with a 30% commission deducted from sculpture sales. Artists must remove their work by February 28, 2020.
