Roots and Wings: Juried Call for Art at Silverwood Park

Silverwood Park invites artists who are at least 18 years old and reside primarily in the Midwest to submit work for consideration in a group exhibition entitled Roots and Wings, on view October 12 - November 30, 2017. The exhibition explores the concepts of roots (sense of place and connection to the world) and wings (imagination and freedom to move beyond it) as they relate to the natural world. Work can be 2-D or 3-D, representational or abstract. Framed work should not exceed 40 inches at greatest width or 48 inches at greatest length. 3-D work must fit on a 15 x 15 inch pedestal or be freestanding.

Submissions must include 1-5 images, a document with artist name, telephone number, email address, and for each image submitted: title, dimensions, medium, year, and optional notes about the piece. Also required: a two-page maximum resume and one-page maximum artist statement. The juror is Eric William Carroll. Application deadline is August 1, 2017 by 11:59 pm. Notification by email will be sent September 11. Delivery by shipment is September 27 - October 7, or by drop-off on October 1, 3, and 4. Opening reception is October 12 from 6-8 pm. Return of artwork is December 1-6 for artist pick-up or the week of December 4 for return shipping.

Artists are responsible for all shipping fees and insurance. Work must be ready to hang and framed with wire. Silverwood Park retains a 25% commission on work sold in the gallery.
