About This Call
Rooted in Relations: Authenticity and the Power of Indigenous Sovereignty celebrates the interconnection, strength, and sovereignty that flow from Indigenous relationships—with land, language, culture, and community. This call welcomes emerging and established Native artists whose works embody contemporary and traditional expressions of Indigenous artistry. Through this exhibition, we aim to honor Indigenous creativity that reflects both tradition and innovation—rooted in relationships and grounded in sovereignty.
Original works in all media will be considered, including but not limited to: drawing, painting, photography, fiberwork, beadwork, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, graphic and digital arts, spoken or written word, video, music, fashion and works that re-engage with ancestral practices. There is no fee to apply. MCC Art Gallery is a learning space that does not broker art sales. Works for sale and not for sale will be considered. Any purchase inquiries will be forwarded directly to the artist.
Jury window: January 5-8, 2026. Invitations to be emailed: January 9, 2026 by 5pm. Artwork delivery deadline: January 23, 2026. Exhibition dates: February 4 - April 2, 2026. Artwork pickup dates: April 3 - 10, 2026. Applicants will be asked to state in their own words how they identify as a Native artist.
