RIWS Presents: National Watermedia Show 2020

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society presents the 2020 National Watermedia Show, a juried exhibition featuring over $3,000 in cash prizes. The show is open to watermedia entries only, with work juried by Joel Popdics.

Eligibility requirements: Work must have been completed within the last 10 years and may not exceed 42 inches on its longest side (including frame). Work may not be copied from copyrighted material or partially or wholly painted by another artist. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, acrylic mediums, watercolor mediums, water-based ink, casein, and egg tempera. Media such as line & wash, watercolor pencils, water-based collage, charcoal, graphite, wax accents and resists, water-based monotypes and mono prints, and embossing are acceptable up to 20% of the work. Unacceptable media include pastels, colored pencil (other than watercolor pencil), fabrics, digital media, oil paints, photography, and reproductions. Acceptable surfaces include watercolor paper, synthetic papers, canvas, illustration board, and rice paper. Work must be presented professionally in frames under glass (or Plexiglas if over 22"x 28"), with white or off-white mats preferred.

Entry fee: $25 for non-members, $20 for members (use coupon code riwsmember). Submissions require 1-3 images. Accepted entries will be notified July 8. Drop-off/delivery is July 9-30. Exhibition dates are August 1 - September 25. Pickup is September 25 - October 10; shipping is September 25 - October 20. The Rhode Island Watercolor Society will receive 35% of sales. No accepted entry may be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition.
