About This Call
River: The Ribbon of Life is an exhibition exploring the life force created by and around rivers. The river is one of the most critical factors of life on earth, providing food, transportation, energy, and recreation while supporting ecosystems and wildlife. This call allows for broad interpretation and media, with the exception of sculpture or video. Artwork must be less than 40 inches in any direction, including frame.
The exhibition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the United States. Entries must be original works of the artist's own execution. Artists may submit up to six original artworks as high-resolution JPEGs (1-3 MB). Entry fee is $35 for the first artwork, with additional entries at $5 each. All artwork must be for sale; TAG Gallery will receive a 35% commission. The juror is Joe A. Oakes, a fine artist and instructor known for landscape paintings featuring bold color and scenes from the U.S., particularly the Southwest and California.
Entry deadline is April 6, 2023. Accepted artists will be notified April 10-12, 2023. In-person drop-off dates are April 26-29, 2023, 1pm-7pm. The exhibition runs May 3-27, 2023 at TAG Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036. A reception and award ceremony will be held May 13, 2023, 5pm-9pm. Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($250), and Third Place ($100). Art pickup is May 28, 2023, 1pm-7pm.
