River Market Regional Exhibition 2017

The Kansas City Artists Coalition invites artists to submit work for the River Market Regional Exhibition 2017, themed "Truth/Trust/Transcend." The exhibition seeks artwork responding to current events and social issues, with all styles, media, and subjects eligible. The exhibition will be curated by Painter and printmaker Curlee Raven Holton, Executive Director of the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland.

The River Market Regional Exhibition is open to artists in a six-state region (Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri) and to members of the Kansas City Artists Coalition and the African American Artist Collective. All visual media is eligible. Work requiring special installation will be accepted only if the artist is available to install on July 12 or by appointment. Video submissions are accepted; KCAC has two 42-inch LED monitors and blu-ray players available, though artists may provide their own equipment if needed.

Entry fee is $40 for 1-5 entries (non-refundable). Artists may submit 1-10 total samples, including 1-5 images and up to 5 videos. Accepted artists will be notified beginning June 8. Work is due July 1 and July 5-7 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.). The opening reception is July 14 (6-8:30 p.m.), and the exhibition runs through September 22. Hand-delivered work may be picked up September 27-30 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.); shipped work will be returned September 26-30. The Artists Coalition provides insurance for the exhibition and will take a 30% commission on work sold. An illustrated catalog will be published as a PDF and online. $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded.
