River Market Regional Exhibition 2009

The River Market Regional Exhibition runs July 10 – August 14, 2009. The exhibition is open to current residents of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, or Oklahoma. Entries must be original work completed in the last two years and not previously shown in The Artists Coalition's Galleries. All media is eligible. Work requiring special installation (including large or heavy works) will be accepted only if the artist is available to install the work June 26. Video artists should submit still images online and mail a DVD to RMRE, Kansas City Artists Coalition, 201 Wyandotte, Kansas City, MO 64105. Entries are due May 20 (not a postmark date). If accepted, video artists may be required to provide display equipment for the duration of the exhibition.

The entry fee is $20 for a minimum of 1 entry and $10 for each additional entry up to 5 total entries. Artists Coalition members receive a 50% discount. Fees are non-refundable. Submissions are made through CaFÉ at www.CallForEntry.org using good quality images showing only the artwork with no background or details. Artists whose works are accepted will be notified beginning June 2. Accepted work that differs from the digital image will be disqualified.

The juror is Anthony Huberman, Chief Curator of The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. The Artists Coalition will publish an illustrated catalog with an essay by Mr. Huberman, sent to all entrants and distributed to contemporary art curators and gallery directors nationally. $2000 in cash prizes will be awarded. Artists who have received 2 or more awards may enter but are not eligible for an award. Accepted works must be delivered June 17-20 (shipped prepaid or hand-delivered 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.). Hand-delivered work must be picked up August 15 between 11-4 p.m. Shipped work will be returned August 19. The Artists Coalition provides insurance for the exhibition and takes a 30% commission on work sold. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance during shipment and pay for return shipping.
