About This Call
Innovations in Contemporary Crafts is a juried exhibition of contemporary crafts by California artists. The show explores innovations in traditional craft mediums including ceramics, wood, glass, metal, fiber, enamel, paper, and jewelry, featuring artists who are forward thinking in their approach to materials and application. The exhibition will be displayed in the Richmond Art Center's Main Gallery.
Eligibility is open to artists living or working in California who work in traditional craft mediums. All works must have been made in the last 3 years, be original, and not previously shown at Richmond Art Center. Works must be no larger than 8 feet in any dimension and must be available during the entire exhibition period. Artists must submit a minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 10 images. Entry fee is $35 for non-members and $30 for Richmond Art Center members.
Exhibition dates are March 23 – June 1, 2013, with a reception on March 23. The juror is Monica Moses, Editor in Chief of American Craft Magazine. Total awards are $1,000 in prizes. Art drop-off dates are March 9 and 11 (in-person) or March 8 (shipped work must be received). Art pick-up dates are June 3 and 5. Richmond Art Center will provide fine art insurance for all artwork on premises and will retain a 40% commission on all sales during the exhibition. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs to and from the exhibition.
