RFQ Indoor Art - Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center

Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking artists for a significant large-scale commissioned artwork installation in the building lobby. The artwork should complement the interior design and provide a positive visual for cancer patients and their families. Artwork must be life-affirming and support a sense of optimism, vitality, energy, and hope.

Eligibility is open to individuals 18 years of age and older residing in Florida or Georgia. Artist teams are acceptable. Artwork may be in any medium and can be a single piece or multiple related pieces. The primary artwork location is a two-story wall adjacent to the main entrance lobby with dimensions of 26 feet in height and 13 feet in width. The budget is up to $50,000, which must cover all associated costs including design, creation, materials, labor, transportation, insurance, and installation. Lighting will be provided by Baptist Health.

Submission packages must include 4-8 images of completed art installations of similar scope, information on images including location, dimensions, material and cost, and a current artist resume with website if available. There is no submission fee. Up to three artists will be selected as finalists and provided a small stipend to produce a site-specific proposal. Final selection will be made by a panel including art professionals and Baptist Health executive leadership. The anticipated schedule includes finalist notification by January 22, 2017, final design proposals due February 20, 2017, final artist selection by March 13, 2017, and art installation completion by March 27, 2018.
