Revolutionary Teapots

The Berkshire Potters Collective announces a juried exhibition titled "Revolutionary Teapots" at Chesterwood in Stockbridge, MA, running August 1 – September 27, 2026. Commemorating the nation's 250th anniversary, ceramic artists are invited to enter their interpretations of what it might mean to be a "Revolutionary" teapot (endowed with forms, colors or symbols associated with 1776 and early American history); a "revolutionary" teapot (a vessel that defies norms or stretches boundaries); or simply a wonderfully unique teapot. The exhibition will be judged by Leslie Ferrin, director of Ferrin Contemporary and author of Teapots Transformed. Awards will be presented at the opening reception: $300 First Place, $200 Second Place, $100 Third Place, and two $50 Honorable Mentions.

Eligibility is open to artists currently residing or working in Berkshire and Hampshire counties in MA, Columbia and Greene counties in NY, and Litchfield County, CT. All work must be original and available for sale. Teapots should be no larger than 18" high x 14" wide. Entry fees are $25 for Berkshire Potters Collective members or $40 for non-members, with each fee covering up to three submissions. The deadline for entry is April 15, 2026. Notifications will be emailed by April 30, 2026.

Accepted work should be hand-delivered if possible. Artists will receive an 80% commission on sold work, with Chesterwood retaining a 20% commission. Submissions must include high-quality JPEG images at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge, with no visible matting, frames, or background.
