About This Call
This online photography exhibition explores families—whether chosen, by blood, or by proximity—through human stories, memories, and histories that comprise the past, present, and future of lives lived and projections of what may be.
Juror Aline Smithson is a Los Angeles-based visual artist, editor, and educator whose work has been exhibited in over 40 solo shows globally and featured in The New York Times and The New Yorker. She is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Lenscratch, a daily photography journal, and has received the Rising Star Award and Excellence in Teaching Award. Her work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London and selected for Critical Mass Top 50.
Entry fees are $30 for four images (non-members) or $15 for four images (members). Additional images may be submitted for $5 each (non-members) or $3 each (members) with no limit on total submissions. All images must be submitted online via CaFE. Entries are due May 7, 2023. Acceptance notification will be sent June 15, 2023. The online exhibition runs June–December 2023, with a virtual reception and artist talks on July 13, 2023. Awards include a $300 Juror's Award, $300 Director's Award, and one artist will be featured in Lenscratch. Ten selected exhibitors will receive virtual 20-minute reviews with the juror or executive director and curator. All submitting artists retain copyright to their images. The Center for Fine Art Photography is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organization founded in 2004 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Photographers worldwide working in all photographic mediums—digital, film, mixed, and unique processes—are eligible to participate.
