Rev Up the Arts Aggieland Mural Festival

Rev Up the Arts Aggieland Mural Festival is a public art initiative in partnership with the City of College Station, taking place during the last week of September. The Arts Council is accepting submissions from artists to create an urban gallery that will enhance the community through large-scale murals. The festival aims to incorporate the talents of local and international artists to stimulate economic growth and foster a sense of pride and connection among residents and visitors.

Up to five (5) artists will be selected to receive a $5,000 stipend for their work and participation, with half paid upon selection. Hotel accommodations (one room per artist/team) will be provided. The cost of supplies is covered by the Arts Council, which is working with Mural Supply Co. to organize paint orders, prepare walls, and provide support during the festival. Artists must be 18+ years old and available to start and finish their mural painting over a consecutive week-long period during September. General liability insurance is required for the entirety of the painting period, with assistance available upon request. Artists must make their own travel arrangements if traveling from outside College Station, though international artists may request a scholarship.

Murals should be uniquely creative while encapsulating the spirit of Aggieland and must be family-friendly. Copyright of the design and artwork is retained by the artist indefinitely. However, ownership of the physical works transfers to the Wall Owner, and the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley, City of College Station, and Visit College Station are granted an unlimited license to use the artwork for display and promotional purposes. Submissions are reviewed on artistic excellence, quality of skills and techniques, overall professionalism, and experience to successfully complete the project. The call is open to all artists aged 18 and up, including artist teams. While not required, the Arts Council strongly prefers artists who have completed at least one large (at least 200 square feet) outdoor mural within the past five years. It is free to apply.
