Resilient Generations - Solidarity Street Gallery 2022

Solidarity Street Gallery 2022 invites artists to submit work to a street-side visual art exhibit. Southeast Asian and other artists of color are especially encouraged to participate. The call is open to all artists, and there is no registration fee. Artists can sell their work, and limited stipends may be available upon request to help offset materials expenses or artwork production costs.

Artworks should be inspired by, reflect on, or speak to the topic of Resilient Generations as it pertains to Southeast Asian communities and their culture and history; immigrant and underrepresented groups who have experienced trauma, healing, and rebuilding; or the community's emergence from the COVID pandemic. Submissions addressing justice, equity, and resilience are also welcome. Visual art submissions are accepted in broad media and formats, including flat framable art (paintings, drawings, prints, photographs), sculpture, art and craft objects, motion picture shorts (3-5 minutes), outdoor sidewalk art, and outdoor wall art.

Selected artworks will be featured at 30-35 exhibition sites along Payne Avenue in St. Paul, centered around the intersection of Payne and Case. Most sites are storefronts, interior spaces, or sidewalks belonging to restaurants, businesses, and community organizations. The festival runs September 9-10 and will include a virtual gallery with online sales tools; 80% of net sales proceeds go to artists. Key dates: August 1 (submission deadline), August 12 (jurying completed), August 15 (artist notification), August 26 (artwork delivery deadline). Submissions should include 1-6 images and up to 2 videos.
