About This Call
This Request for Qualifications invites artists to submit qualifications for public art projects on various Durham County buildings. The RFQ is open to all artists over 18 who are authorized to work in the United States, with preference given to artists residing in North Carolina and Durham County. Media accepted include 2D, 3D, and Eco Art. Budget ranges vary by project; see the RFQ for specific details.
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. EST on February 26, 2026. Submissions should include: an artist statement describing your experience, discipline(s), and qualifications (including whether you live in North Carolina and which project best fits your work); 10-15 images representing at least five different projects, with each image accompanied by title, location, cost, materials/medium, and date; a resume for each artist or team member including any public or private commissioning experience and community engagement experience; and at least three current references (non-familial) or recommendation letters with contact information. Artist teams should collectively explain their interest and qualifications, include examples from each team member, and may submit a total of three references collectively. Videos are welcome; refer to CAFE's requirements for submission specifications.
