About This Call

The City of Santa Monica is completing design of a new 25,000 square foot above-grade fire station at 1337-45 7th Street, to replace the existing Fire Station No. 1. The proposed new facility will include subterranean parking for staff, apparatus bays, staff dormitories, offices and storage for personal protection equipment.

The new station building will be fronted with floor-to-ceiling glass and feature an antique fire truck inside the front bay of the building that will be visible from the street. There are opportunities for artwork in the planter areas along the front of the building on 7th Street, in the lobby area—including the possibility of a suspended work—and the south wall of the community meeting room/training room.

Eligibility is regional (California). Applicants must submit 5-10 images as work samples.
