About This Call
IU Kokomo Art Gallery invites submissions for "Representation Matters: I See Me," an exhibition exploring media representation of all religions, genders, races, sexualities, and body types. Artists are encouraged to submit work inspired by how their own identities, or identities in general, are depicted in media. Broad interpretations of the theme of identities in media are encouraged.
The exhibit is open to all artists who are at least 18 years of age. Both fine art and new media works are accepted, including painting, drawing, sculpture, prints, photography, digital illustrations, videos, and mixed media. All entries must be original and created within the last two years. Artwork must be no larger than 48" in width measured horizontally; sculptures should not exceed 11 ft. in height. All work must be accurately represented in jpeg images. Professional presentation is required: 2D artwork must be framed with a secure hanging method, canvas sides and staples must be covered, and sculptures must be fully assembled, structurally sound, and include detailed installation instructions if necessary. Entry fee is $25.00 per artist, invoiced upon submission.
Delivery and pick-up of artwork is the artist's responsibility. Artists may personally drop-off and pick-up during gallery hours or ship their work; if shipping, the artist is responsible for return shipping using a sturdy, reusable package. Any work not picked up 30 days after the exhibition ends becomes property of the gallery. Sales are encouraged with the gallery receiving a 30% commission. Exhibition dates are February 5 – March 6, 2020, with an opening reception on February 5 from 4-7pm. Artwork delivery is January 13, 2020; pick-up is March 7-13, 2020. Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before January 3, 2020. Gallery location: 2300 S. Washington St, Kokomo, IN 46904-9003. Phone: 765-455-9523.
