About This Call
Represent invites traditional and contemporary approaches to portraiture across a wide array of media – painting, photography, drawing, pastels, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, and new media. Proposals of both contemporary and traditional pieces are welcome that create a visually-compelling complement or counterpoint to Barrett Art Center's 1840s Greek Revival townhouse interior. The exhibition explores how we understand what it means to represent or re-present a person or place.
This national juried exhibition will be held March 13 through April 18, 2021. The juror is Hannah Turpin, Curatorial Assistant for Modern and Contemporary Art and Photography at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Awards include $500 Juror's Prize, $250 Second Prize, and $125 Honorable Mention.
Entry fees are $40 for non-members ($30 for BAC members) for the first three images, plus $5 for each additional image. Submissions must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 15 total samples, consisting of 3-12 images and 0-3 videos. The deadline is November 30, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST. International artists are eligible. Contact [email protected] for questions or visit www.barrettartcenter.org/membership to become a member.
