Reno Chalk Art Festival

The Reno Chalk Art Festival, presented by Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, is an inaugural Artown event taking place July 9th and 10th at the West Lot of Atlantis. Juried artists—amateur and professional—will create pastel chalk paintings on pavement, transforming parking spaces into works of art. Invited professional chalk artists known as Madonnari will also participate. The competition runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with awards presented at 5 p.m. on July 10th. Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Best Reproduction of a Master's Work, Best Use of Color, Best 3D, and Artists' Choice Award.

Participants do not need chalk experience, only a passion to create art. Pastels will be provided; acrylic is not permitted. A special hotel rate is available for out-of-town artists, and breakfast and lunch will be provided each day of competition. The event will feature live entertainment, artisan crafters, and local food trucks.

Submissions should include 4-6 total images for review, with at least two being pastel chalk work if possible. Close-ups should be noted as corresponding to larger images. Applicants must provide a short statement expressing their interest, a biography, and a high-resolution photo of themselves. These materials will help the jury evaluate submissions and may be included in event marketing.
