About This Call
The City of Auburn's new art center gallery in the historic 1937 post office building (20 Auburn Avenue, Auburn, WA 98001) will feature a group exhibition titled "RENEWAL: Historic Roots and Artistic Growth" in summer 2023. The exhibition seeks to showcase artworks by Pacific Northwest artists representing imagery and ideas of trees, branches, and similar growth through nature. Applications are requested from established and emerging Washington State visual artists and/or artist groups working in two-dimensional or wall-mounted three-dimensional media.
All artwork must be delivered in person and must be mounted or framed and securely wired (or with D-rings) and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers are accepted. The gallery is equipped with professional lighting. The exhibition is tentatively set to be on display from July-September 2023, with specific dates to be determined. A reception will be scheduled for the exhibition with a date TBD. Unless the nature of an artwork necessitates an artist to install the work themselves, City of Auburn staff will install the artwork and all artwork labels.
Artists are not allowed to list artworks for sale onsite, but may leave contact information for interested parties. Any sales can be handled privately between the artist and the buyer. Artists are required to sign an "Agreement to Exhibit" liability waiver. The City of Auburn carries insurance coverage for artworks in this exhibition while on display. Artwork will be selected by a panel including City of Auburn staff, Arts Commissioners, artists, and representatives from the community-at-large. Artist notifications will occur June 2-7, 2023, with artwork drop-off for exhibition installation June 28-30, 2023.
