Rendered Fusion: Clay, Connection, Attention - NCECA 2024 Annual

Rendered Fusion: Clay, Connection, Attention is the 2024 NCECA Annual exhibition, curated by Elizabeth Schlatter and Lauranett Lee. The exhibition blends invitational and open juried models, featuring five invited artists alongside additional works selected through an open call for submissions. The exhibition runs January 31 - May 4, 2024 at the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art, University of Richmond Museums, 453 Westhampton Way, Richmond, VA 23173.

The curators seek diverse ways that artists work with clay to explore and give form to experiences of time and place as concept, material investigation, and creative expression. All genres of work incorporating clay as a principal medium will be considered, including vessels, sculptures, and conceptual works. Mixed media works are accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Video featuring clay or ceramics will also be accepted. Works must be able to fit through the venue's entryways and safely install on the premises; floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting.

Eligibility is open to artists over 18 years of age who are not matriculating for a degree in higher education. NCECA membership is not required. Entry fee is $45.00 for non-members; members receive complimentary entry. Artists may submit up to three distinct works with no more than two media files per work, not to exceed six total media files (1-6 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files). All submissions must include a work statement (limit 1000 characters) and a declaration of monetary value for insurance purposes. Deadline: Wednesday, August 9, 2023, 11:59 p.m. MDT.
