About This Call
Remarque Print Workshop is offering a printmaking residency for 12 printmakers (six for each of two sessions) to work in their non-toxic printmaking facility in Albuquerque, NM. Two residency sessions are available: August 2-6 and October 18-22, 2021. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 residency, there are currently 7 open spots for this year.
Selected artists will have complete 24-hour access to the 3,000 square foot studio, including six Takach presses, Akua inks, exposure unit, plate cutter, and etching tanks. Applicants are expected to have prior printmaking knowledge but need not be familiar with non-toxic Akua inks and etching processes. Artists must purchase their own paper, plates, and additional materials. Remarque does not provide food or lodging but can recommend affordable local rentals. The residency aims to provide printmakers who may lack access to presses and studio equipment with an intense week of artistic production and the opportunity to connect with printmakers from different regions.
To apply, submit three to five examples of artwork, a resume, a short bio, and a description (less than one page) of the project(s) you plan to work on during the residency. Images should be uploaded to CAFE; resume, bio, and statement can be emailed to [email protected]. An application deadline is May 31, 2021. Selected artists will be notified June 15, 2021. Artists are expected to donate one print to the gallery and pay a $100 administrative fee. A meet and greet reception will be held Sunday evening before the residency begins. Artists may work through Friday evening with cleanup on Saturday. Artists are invited to share their work and artistic vision on Tuesday evening.
