Reflections of Esther: Annual Art Exhibition Inspired by the Life and Legacy of Esther Rolle

The Ali Cultural Arts Center in Pompano Beach, Florida invites artists nationwide to submit work for "Reflections of Esther," an exhibition inspired by the life and legacy of Esther Rolle. The exhibition celebrates Rolle's contributions to the arts, her advocacy for social justice, and her role as a cultural icon. Artists are invited to explore and interpret the profound impact of Esther Rolle's life through diverse visual art media including painting, photography, printmaking, video art, short film, sound art, mixed media, poetry, and illustration. Works should reflect themes inspired by Rolle's career, her roots in Pompano Beach, her connection to the African American experience, and her legacy as a "native daughter" who used her platform to elevate and empower.

Featured artworks will be displayed at the Ali Cultural Arts Center from November 8, 2024, through January 4, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, November 8, 2024. The exhibition will also feature the City's collection of artwork inspired by Rolle's life and legacy.

Eligibility: Open to nationwide artists. Artworks must have been completed in the last ten years. Entry fee is $10.00. Submit up to three (3) digital files (images, audio, or video). The City will receive 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition. Notification of acceptance will be sent by October 11, 2024. Shipping/delivery deadline is October 28, 2024.
