About This Call
Reflections - A Glass & Photography Show is a regional exhibition running March 27 – May 9, 2020 at Kavanagh Gallery, Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St Charles, Illinois. The show is open to artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The exhibition features handmade glass and photography work inspired by the concept of reflection—whether the musings of a contemplative mind or the mirroring of light and image.
Artists may submit up to 3 pieces with a $35 non-refundable entry fee. Requirements include: artist must be at least 18 years old; artwork must be original and completed within the last two years; pieces must not have been previously shown at Fine Line; all work must be for sale; and images submitted must be of the actual work to be exhibited. Submitted work cannot exceed 48 inches x 32 inches x 6 feet when packed for shipping, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds. An artist statement limited to 1000 characters is requested and will be displayed during the show.
The Kavanagh Gallery Committee will curate the exhibition. Awards totaling $800 in prizes will be awarded; the judge will be determined. Jury decisions are based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality as represented in submitted images. Artists will be notified of jury decisions on or before February 29, 2020. Fine Line handles show installation, the opening reception (March 27, 6:00-8:00 PM), and all sales. A 30% sales commission applies to any artwork sold. Artists are responsible for shipping artwork to and from Fine Line and must include a return shipping label. Insurance is provided by Fine Line from receipt of work through the end of the show, valued at 70% of the sale price; artists are responsible for insurance during shipping. Attendance at the opening reception is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. The gallery is open to the public Monday-Saturday, 10 am-5 pm. Work pickup or shipping occurs on May 12, 2020; exhibited work cannot be removed before this date.
