About This Call
RedLine is a diverse urban laboratory where arts, education, and community converge. The Resident Artist Program engages approximately 15–20 artists at any given time for a two-year residency period. As part of the residency, artists receive free/subsidized studio space and professional support from RedLine's staff, resource artists, and fellow residents.
Residents participate in frequent studio visits with curators and art professionals, educational programs, community events, and exhibitions. The program emphasizes interactivity and community engagement as core elements. Artists are responsible for outfitting their studio with necessary tools and arranging their own housing. RedLine does not have a wood shop, and use of toxic materials is only permitted outside the premises.
Application requirements include an artist statement, cover letter (2 pages maximum), letter of intent responding to questions about timing and ideal studio environment (500 words maximum each), community engagement responses describing volunteer experience and experience working with students or adults in learning environments (500 words maximum each), current resume, and three professional references with full contact information. Entry fee is $35.00. Work samples may include up to 10 images, up to 5 audio files, and up to 5 video files (minimum 5 total samples, maximum 20 total). Payment by check or money order must be postmarked by July 15, 2015, or payment can be made via PayPal through the Donate link on RedLine's website or by phone at (303) 296-4448. Residency information sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 5:30-6:30pm and Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5:30-6:30pm at RedLine.
