About This Call
RedLine is a diverse urban laboratory where arts, education and community converge. The organization fosters forms of social practice in the arts that inspire inquiry and catalyze change.
The Resident Artist Program engages approximately 15–20 artists at any given time for a two-year residency period. As part of the residency, artists receive studio space and professional support from RedLine's staff and fellow residents. Artists will experience frequent studio visits with curators, art professionals, and people in the creative industries. Artists are invited to participate in various educational programs, community events, and exhibitions, which provide exposure to new techniques, networks, and community engagement. Artists working in all mediums are welcome to apply. Artists are responsible for outfitting their studio with the necessary tools to produce their works. RedLine does not have a wood shop, and use of toxic materials is only permitted outside of the premises.
Application deadline is July 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit up to 20 artwork samples: up to 10 images, up to 5 audio files, and up to 5 video files. Required application materials include artist statement, cover letter (limit 2 pages), letter of intent (responses limited to 500 words each), community engagement responses (limited to 500 words each), current resume, and three professional references with full contact information. Payment accepted by check or money order in U.S. funds (postmarked by July 1, 2014) or via PayPal through the Donate link on RedLine's homepage. A residency information session with resident artists, alumni, and staff is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25th, 2014 from 5:30–6:30 p.m.
