About This Call
RedLine is a nonprofit contemporary art center announcing its 2020 Call for Entry for the Artists-in-Residence Program. The program offers two-year residencies for 15-18 emerging, contemporary artists. RedLine fosters education and engagement between artists and communities to create positive social change.
Residents receive fully-subsidized studio spaces, mentorship, career development, and exposure through an open studio format. The studios surround a 10,000 sq ft exhibition hall that encourages dialogue between visitors and resident artists. Artists work in proximity with peers within a community of mutual support that fosters networking and collaboration. Artists have 24/7 access to their studios and are responsible for outfitting their space with necessary furniture, tools, and materials. Toxic materials are only permitted outside the premises. Housing during the two-year residency is the responsibility of the resident artist, though RedLine has partnerships and resources available for housing consideration.
Applicants must submit: artist bio, bio photo, letter of intent (500 words max) addressing how their participation supports RedLine's mission and how RedLine will advance their practice, professional development goals (300 words max), community engagement experience and community-informed issues (350 words max each), resume/CV, and three professional references with contact information. Work samples may include up to 10 images, 5 audio files, and 5 video files (minimum 5 total samples required). The program is open to international applicants. New residents will be notified in August 2020 with move-in in October 2020.
