Red River Watercolor Society 30th Annual National Juried Watermedia Exhibition

The Red River Watercolor Society invites artists to submit work for the 30th Annual National Juried Watermedia Exhibition, running June 1-30, 2023, at West Acres in Fargo, ND. The exhibition juror and workshop instructor is Ron Thurston. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age and older working in two-dimensional water media on watercolor paper, Yupo, or synthetic paper.

Entry deadline is March 9, 2023. Acceptance notifications will be sent April 3. Entry fees are $40 for up to two paintings (non-members), $30 for RRWS members, or $25 for Signature Status recipients, with $10 for each additional entry (maximum 2 additional). A $35 handling fee applies to shipped paintings and $15 for hand-delivered work. Paintings must be completed within the last two years, not previously exhibited in RRWS National Exhibitions, and have a minimum size of 108 square inches (excluding mat). Original work only; no copies, class work, or work from photographs not created by the artist. Acceptable materials include transparent or opaque watercolor, varnished watercolor, gouache, casein, egg tempera, water-based ink, water-soluble graphite, and acrylic. Pastels, oils, collage, digital images, and works on canvas are not eligible.

Accepted paintings must be matted in clean white only and framed in black wood or metal frames (7/8" to 2" wide face, maximum 60" in any direction). All work must be under plexiglass with square corners and wired for hanging. The opening reception is June 6 (6-8 PM) with awards presentation at 7 PM. Exhibition awards include Gold ($1,300), Silver ($1,000), Bronze ($800), 30th Anniversary ($750), Excellence ($500), High Water ($500), Red River Regional ($500), Distinction ($300), and Merit awards ($100 each, 5 available). A free catalog will be provided to all entrants. A 30% donation to RRWS is suggested on sales. Accepted paintings cannot be withdrawn or altered from submission, and purchase price designations cannot be changed after submission.
