Red River Watercolor Society 23rd Annual National Watermedia Exhibition

The Red River Watercolor Society's 23rd Annual National Watermedia Exhibition will be held May 17 through September 4, 2016 at The Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND. The exhibition is juried by Tom Francesconi, AWS, NWS, TWSA, WW.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in two-dimensional water media (watercolor, gouache, casein, egg tempera and acrylic) on a single piece of paper or Yupo. Original work only—no pastels, oil pastels, water-based oils, prints, digital images or reproductions. Paintings must have been completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in RRWS National Exhibitions. Minimum image size excluding matt is 108 square inches; maximum framed size is 60 inches in either direction. Any collage elements used must be less than 10% of total surface and must be the artist's own creation on paper.

Entry fee is $35 for up to two paintings; 2016 RRWS members receive a $10 discount with member code. Non-members may join RRWS by adding an optional membership fee of $15 at checkout. Only one painting per artist can be juried into the show. Submit 1-2 digital images in jpg format, 72 ppi/dpi, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, maximum 5 MB file size. No digital enhancement allowed; show image only, no frame or mat. Exhibition awards include Gold ($1250), Silver ($1000), Bronze ($750), Excellence ($500), High Water Award ($500), Red River Regional Award ($500), and four Merit awards ($100 each). Accepted paintings must be framed simply, suitably wired for hanging and under plexiglass with white or pale neutral mats. Handling fees are $15 for hand-delivery or $30 for shipped paintings. A 30% donation to RRWS is requested on sales. A five-day workshop with juror Tom Francesconi is offered May 16-20, 2016, 9am-4pm, at $350 for members and $390 for non-members.
