About This Call
'Reconciliation' is the theme for the 2020 Kreft Juried Art Program at Concordia University Ann Arbor. The theme may be understood in three distinct ways: as a connection or reconnection between people (friends, families, communities, nations); as making one thing compatible with another, bringing disparate elements into harmony; and as resolution, a momentary sense of completion or fulfillment. Eligible media include prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, digital images, sculpture, fiber art, and video. Only original artwork produced within the past five years will be accepted; reproductions are not permitted. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
Work samples may include up to 2 images, 2 audio files, and 2 video files, with a minimum of 1 and maximum of 6 total samples. The entry fee is $35.00. Entries must not exceed 60 inches in any direction and must be sent ready for hanging. Shipped works must be packaged in reusable cartons and arrive prepaid by February 21, 2020. Maximum crate dimensions are 130 united inches (length and girth). Works packed with loose materials such as styrofoam chips or shredded newspaper will not be accepted. Two-dimensional works must be suitably prepared for exhibition, and works framed with glass will not be accepted. Artists must arrange return shipping of exhibited work, with prepaid return labels preferred.
Awards include $1,000 for Best of Show, $500 for 2nd Place, and $250 for 3rd Place. The artist chosen as Best of Show will receive a solo exhibition in the Kreft Gallery at Concordia University Ann Arbor in the 2020-2021 gallery season. The exhibition runs from March 3 to April 12, 2020. Artists should include a brief explanation (250 words or less) describing how their artwork addresses the theme of 'Reconciliation' saved as a Word document with their submission.
